Note the current active layer – Water nodes. This was set as on by default in the MCQT_Water_UNV workspace. You can see the circle icon on the right of the layer name in the Workspace panel. It is also listed as the Active Layer in the drop down box at the top of the panel. You can use either of these controls to select or deselect the active layer. The box has a search field, which is faster when the tree is long.
Click the filled circle again, or choose None, to have no active layer at all.
Click the active layer on and then click on the map. If any features are within a set radius (default setting), the pop-up will show the information for the features, prioritizing the feature in the active layer first.
You may also note that the data grid above the map shows data from the active layer. Using the data grid, map, and the active layer together is covered in more detail later.
Other functions, such as filters, exports, and reports will also default to the active layer.
