Using Synchronized Map Windows

Using synchronized map windows, you can sync two open browser tabs that are displaying the same workspace. Each window can have different layers on, allowing a user to view the same location in each window, but showing different layer displays. As you pan or zoom on one map, the other map is synchronized to the same scale and location.

Try It Yourself #

  1. With only one tab open in our browser, log in to your map.
  2. Open a second tab in the same browser and navigate to your map. You can simply copy and paste the URL from step 1.
  3. On one of the maps, click the Sync Map icon to make it active. The two maps, one in each tab, are now synced for pan and zoom operations.
  4. It is easiest to see when the two tabs are visible individually. Drag one of the tabs into a separate window, with each map on half of your screen or on separate monitors.
  5. Toggle a different base layer on one map, with any other layers as desired. Note how when you pan or zoom on either of the maps, the other map synchronizes the movement to the same location.
